Son Raw
Son Raw is Passion of the Weiss’ resident expert in Urban Electronic sounds, which means that he specializes in music with a lot of air horns, gun shots, broken beats and laser sounds. Having written about Hip-Hop, Rare Groove, Bass Music and Grime and having DJ’ed everywhere from Los Angeles’ Low End Theory to Paris’ Rinse France and London’s NTSLive – we figure he knows what he’s talking about.

When asked to describe his musical philosophy he mumbled something about musical viruses and “searching for the next fix" before concluding that sunshine does indeed play a major part in the daytime.

Duh-Ha! Duh-Ha! You never thought that Sach O would make it this far. January 9th 2006. Hipsterism was on the rise, Ghostface had not yet released Fishscale, Snap music was all the rage and the word “Dubstep” hardly meant a thing outside of a close-knit circle of Londoners and a couple of international early-adopters. That […]

Sach O is bangin’ like a Ron G tape. I try to avoid live show reviews around here. In the wise words of Disco Vietnam, there’s really only two possible reactions to a show one didn’t attend: “It rocked? Damn…” and “It sucked? Damn…” That goes double for DJ-run club nights where the vibe, atmosphere […]

Sach O needs to figure out how this new site works. While most UKBass producers keep a hawk’s eye on our liberal attitude towards MP3 distribution (come on guys, a 192KBPS sample, please?), Skream just keeps on providing the free music himself. Released on Christmas day, the latest 13 track “Freeizm” album is proof positive […]

Sach O can’t stop believing. Or making lists apparently. These aren’t necessarily the best 25 Bass music tracks of the year since that list would involve all sorts of calculations debating “how they fit in the mix” and other esoteric factors you probably don’t care about. Rather, these are 25 great tracks that stand on […]

Son Raw is still eating turkey sandwiches for lunch. Hello readers, As you may have noticed, we’ve been writing a lot of words around here and as such, we’re pretty worn out. Content may be sparse around here until next week but then again it may not, you never know with us. Regardless, sit down: […]

The Top DJ Mixes of 2010 December 27, 2010
Aaron Frank and Sach O write dope as a tastykake….mix! The following are some of our favorite mixes of the past year in no particular order. If a mix was given out for free, click through for audio, if it was commercially released, click through to buy it. If it was released in another dimension, […]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u1vq8xI1Vg Sach O’s back once again with the ill behaviour can you feel it? Nothing can save ya. If I’m to believe the history books, a million people took fairly potent mind-altering chemicals every week in England at the height of Rave’s popularity. This goes a long way to explain why UK rave culture was […]

Sach O is the one that got away. “What I did with ‘[In My Lifetime] Volume One’ was I tried to make records. I had just made ‘Reasonable Doubt’ … it wasn’t successful in music industry terms. It was a cult classic on the streets, but it wasn’t successful in the music business and I […]

Sach O contributes to Resident Advisor now and has a gig this Sunday. I have no idea who producer Jacques Greene is. Supposedly, he comes from my hometown of Montreal so either he’s a Burialesque shadow existing in his own space outside the city’s DJ community or I’m simply ignorant and have walked by him […]

Sach O can’t believe he’s reviewing this one either. Lets tackle the elephant in the room right off the bat. This thing is girly. In parts, super-girly. Additionally, it’s got a LOT of trance synths, you know, that “Ibiza 98 club mix” sound that you mercilessly mocked your muscle-shirt wearing cousin for enjoying. If any […]
