Son Raw
Son Raw is Passion of the Weiss’ resident expert in Urban Electronic sounds, which means that he specializes in music with a lot of air horns, gun shots, broken beats and laser sounds. Having written about Hip-Hop, Rare Groove, Bass Music and Grime and having DJ’ed everywhere from Los Angeles’ Low End Theory to Paris’ Rinse France and London’s NTSLive – we figure he knows what he’s talking about.

When asked to describe his musical philosophy he mumbled something about musical viruses and “searching for the next fix" before concluding that sunshine does indeed play a major part in the daytime.

Sach O is terrifying and dangerous on the decks. Terror Danjah had one of the most productive years in recent memory in 2010, going from “that other guy who invented Grime with Wiley” to a properly celebrated producer equally comfortable getting grimey on Butterz and Harddrive as he was dropping gremlin sounds on Planet Mu […]

Sach O is trying to get all this writing done before he leaves for Sunseeker’s Ball. The latest single from Swing & Skip has been another iPod favorite that’s been keeping me sane since I’ve been crisscrossing music festivals from here to El Segundo. Full disclosure compels me to mention that label founder and producer […]

Sach O needs a vacation from his vacation It’s August and Jeff knows what that means: it’s the time of year where I fuck off to some semi-exotic location to indulge in loud beats and loose women, leaving him to handle site biz on his own – not that you’d notice this time thanks to […]

Sach O is actually trying to cut down on weed. For real. As much as I ride for Goblin, I sincerely hope Tyler’ success doesn’t box in the rest of Odd Future. While the bastard’s catharsis made headlines, the Golf Wang’s greatest appeal for me has always been the resolutely underground streak running through their […]

Sach O’s sound speaks mass. No 128BPM House, plenty of Street Fighter sound effects, no turning down the aggression but no exaggerated heavy metal histrionics either: Dubstep originator Plastician sticks to his guns for the latest edition of his yearly mix throwing up a middle finger to the concept that the ravier end of Dubstep […]

Sach O is dropping science, chemistry and possibly AP physics. The received narrative is that Exothermic Reaction is a fluke, a long promised dub from a producer with little left to offer, generously provided by Non Plus, a label with whom the true credit lies. I don’t buy it. Skream has been releasing quality tunes […]

Oki-ni presents SEVEN by Deadbeat by Oki-Ni on Mixcloud Sach O hadn’t gone to a proper rave in a minute. That one was sick. This is probably the point where I’m supposed to give this mix some context but suffice to say, last night’s Dubstep rave has left me temporarily incapacitated. So yeah: Montreal Electronica […]

Son Raw’s Mid-2011 Bass Music Singles mixcast of Dooooooooom by Son Raw on Mixcloud Son Raw ima give it to ya A couple of people asked for last week’s singles list in mix form and I know where my bread is buttered, so here we are: 20 tunes blended like so. This selection wasn’t originally […]

Sach O DJs at the Shlow End Theory. I’m not too familiar with Shlohmo as the stoned, downtempo division of Bass music is Jeff’s chamber and he does his job well. I constantly find myself wanting to explore The Low End Theory scene beyond the obvious names but there’s only so many hours in the […]

Sach O‘s butterfly knife comes along for your eye. Skream linked to this one on Facebook and it warrants the reblog: a full hour of Dizzee Rascal in his prime, ripping apart the darkest digital beats London had to offer in 2001. The then 16 year old prodigy spit whole chunks of his forthcoming Boy […]
