Chris Daly
Chris Daly is without question the greatest writer named Chris Daly ever to grace the pages of Passion of the Weiss. He was one of the first music bloggers ever to address Nigerian speed rap, an accolade which doesn't get him laid, even in Nigeria. Over the years, he has written for such varied outlets as this one, Odd Bloggings, Les Enfants Terribles, Rollo & Grady, Big Yawn, Jedi News and a really bitching piece on bed bugs for Hotel Management. Daly claims to be the only PotW writer to have seen Tupac as a back-up dancer for Digital Underground, Heavy D. (when both he and all the Boyz still were alive and kicking), Slick Rick (before he went to jail) and the original 3 Feet High and Rising Tour. When not perfecting his beat boxing skills, he enjoys cosplaying his two kids in 80s B-Boy and B-Girl finery. Daly really hopes this blogging thing eventually pays off, as he is not looking forward to the chiropractic bills sure to arise from all the dookie chains he keeps heaping on his offspring.

Chris Daly always bets on black If you’re into blue-eyed soul, 2015 looks to be a pretty good year.  Folks rightfully  awaiting Tuxedo’s self-titled joint on March 3 might want to keep their  ears open to something else-The Jack Moves.  While the work of Jake One and Mayer Hawthorne as Tuxedo is not to be taken […]
Chris Daly got a heater with a mute button To say there was anything “missing” from the original “Go” from Guilty Simpson and Small Professor’s Highway Robbery would be to imply the track wasn’t smoking in the first place.  This would be untrue.  Spitting over horns, wavering keys and taut snares taken to chiptuned extremes […]
Chris Daly owns an aquarium in Bavaria While many are quick to assume that the beat scene resides entirely in LA, a growing number of local scenes are springing up across the globe adding their take to the quicksilver genre.  It’s time for me to put you up on  the Betty Ford Boys, arguably the […]
Chris Daly battled Mall Santa with the lyrics from “Christmas Rappin” in 1983. Regardless of your propensity towards being bad or good, Jake One and Mayer Hawthorne don’t judge.  The power couple also known as Tuxedo is playing Santa by sharing a little holiday cheer in the form of some downloadable love.  Here’s their take on […]
Chris Daly can crack crab or lobster  Depending on where you hang your hat in the country, you may well already be through with snow and winter, which is particularly a bitch in light of the fact that winter doesn’t even officially start for another couple of weeks yet.  With all the powder so many […]
Trust Chris Daly, he’s a doctor.  At this stage in the game, we’re used to seeing the more comical side of Killer Mike and El-P in videos as they destroy things. Whether it’s their take on Tiny Tim and Xmas sweaters in “A Christmas Fucking Miracle,” kidnapped puppets in “36″ Chain,” or what really happens […]
Can’t believe Chris Daly used to be Steve Austin on the mic Naturally, all eyes and ears are pretty much focused on the Wu-Tang’s latest opus, A Better Tomorrow, but if old head hip-hop truly is your bag, don’t let the latest single, “The People,” from De La Soul, rap’s true G.O.A.T band, pass you […]
Chris Daly is a Scorpio In the scheme of musical career longevity, five years hardly amounts to half of a blip on the radar.  Most bands are lucky to get two, maybe three albums out in that time frame, and labels are lucky to even exist half that long.  Seemingly every other cat with a […]
Chris Daly created “Green Eyed Soul” with producer Erick Sermon Doctor Deen already hipped you cats to the melodious, R&B/pop goodness that is Tuxedo. To briefly recap, it’s the alleged side project of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, it’s blue eyed soul mixed with some funky goodness, and if nothing else, their music is bound […]
Chris Daly From Sia to BANKS to FKA Twigs, there’s been a growing pool of talent in 2014, whether your tastes run more towards the pop territory staked out by the former Zero 7 front woman or the Bjork-like oddity of the artist currently known as “Formerly Known As,” it’s time to add another name […]
