Come to Lucas Foster‘s new DJ night, where he will exclusively spin old country-western 45’s.
Billy Ray Cyrus’ verse on “Old Town Road” was a meditation on the emptiness of consumption and celebrity that far surpassed anything that the ”Achy Breaky Heart” had ever written. This was because his verse was authored by Memphis pop wizard JOZZY. Despite numerous plaques and awards as a writer, her solo career is in its infancy.
This track should change that. JOZZY leans deep into the hypnotic and psychedelic aspects of Honorable C-Note’s production, dropping an errorless collection of flows and cadences and voices and deliveries into pretty melodic pockets. That sound, of course, is the ideal space to build on the themes of nihilistic hedonism she made Hannah Montana’s dad consider a few months ago. It’s better constructed than most overwrought concept albums that seek to say the same thing.
