Lucas Foster‘s Liturgy t-shirt is way in the back of his closet.
Anti-World affiliates often have a tendency to be as abrasive as possible, stretching Trap Metal to obscene extremes that only appeal to the sorts of reformed metal heads and Merzbow enthusiasts who are into that sort of thing. What LA’s CXRPSE does is a little more complex, a little more refined. He tends to choose beats and sounds that marry pleasant electronic melodies and pulsing dance beats with those noisy impulses. BruhManeGod, one of the most interesting experimental producers working, gave this beat for Anti-World head honcho Sybyr a year ago, yet CXRPSE did something considerably more advanced than his collective’s leader.
He works beyond the constriction of verses and hooks, moving between a whisper flow, a traditional rap delivery and screams every three or five bars, his erratic flow switch-ups somehow integrating seamlessly with BMG’s aggressively beautiful house-influenced spinning synthesizers and crunchy textures. It is more than just experimentation, it’s an obscure Soundcloud loosie that borders on magnificent.
