Lucas Foster ate a roach in his music video.
Music videos rarely capture a song’s artistic vision in the way this does. In a 1940’s jazz lounge the 16 bar stories of Goldlink’s dancing partner and Tyler’s interaction with a jealous boyfriend to life, and nailing a few subtle details (Tyler dripping sweat here is pretty golden). Jay Prince’ chorus really brings the grown up lounge pop of this track together; it’s infectious enough that the dance choreographer chose to conclude the vignette with the speakeasy’s lovely ladies enter into a possession ritual.
Among an abundance of boring Spotify-core “chill” pop music, this manages to stand out.
