Evan Gabriel thinks the spring equinox is overrated.
Beats can have a time traveling quality to them. They’re capable of piecing together fragments from different epochs to accurately depict a contemporary snapshot. On the new single, “The Moon Is Out,” Kent Loon and POW’s Chester Watson prove they are no freshmen when it comes to contemplating past lives stoned after sundown. The duo’s most recent offering, Spring Mirage, was a psychedelic concoction of Atlanta trap and gothic rave music. The EP saw both rappers maintaining their meditative poise while flexing gold chains and fronts.
“Moon Is Out” is the second single from Ol’ Burger Beats’ forthcoming sophomore LP, Mind Games. A groove for stoned days at museums and nights amid the elements. The splashy hi hats shuffle along while trumpet chords blanket the background. There’s ample vinyl crackle and Jazz cigarettes to make matters noirish.
Mind Games will be the first LP dropping on the newly founded Oslo based label, Mutual Intentions. Aside from the Spring Mirage brethren, the album’s feature list includes Oslo’s very own Ivan Ave, as well as Jeremiah Jae, Quelle Chris, Fly Anakin & Koncept Jack$on and KAMI from SAVEMONEY.
