Chris Daly never forgets. Never.
Whether it was intended as an MLK gift, a balm to soothe upcoming inauguration jitters, or just because that’s how he rolls, British beat maker Paul White has made your week that much better by dropping Everything You’ve Forgotten, a free beat tape. Presumably riding high from his triumphant Hella Personal Film Festival with Open Mike Eagle, White shares more of his characteristically left field, odd beats and samples. Like essentially all of his work, Everything You’ve Forgotten rides a funky groove that only Madlib’s spiritual, across-pond, brother-from-another mother could create.
Seriously, where do these crate diggers find these gems? At just over 20 minutes, this collection of out-there synth jams, vocal snippets (including a Danny Brown verse), dialogue, and what I believe is a jaw harp around the six and a half minute mark, Everything You’ve Forgotten is here to help you remember. What you recall, however, is between you and your DJ, as the Based God intended.
