Chris Daly and Nosaj Thing could make one helluva beat together.
Solid drums. Skittering ambient noise. Occasional ghosts of conversation. It doesn’t take overly complicated machinery to build a beat that goes the distance. Southern Cali beatsmith D Tiberio proves just that with his recently released Court EP, which is out now on Nosaj Thing’s Time Table Records. That imprint’s home to such stalwarts of the game as Lorn, Gerry Read, Ben W, Holodec, Adam Guzman and Whoarei, but Tiberio–who’s been friends with Nosaj since childhood–wastes no time in distinguishing himself.
Today, we’re happy to premiere D Tiberio’s “4UMA” video, a black and white montage that matches perfectly with the music. Directing duo Calvin Trezise and Mark McKnight capture filtered images of the streets and shadows playing across cityscapes. Like the song (and to be sure, the rest of Court), the clip finds the crevices that everyone sees, but nobody watches.
