After a miserable three-week stretch of wet weather, the sun has finally returned to D.C., and it’s making up for lost time. Summer doesn’t officially kick off until June 20th, but its tell-tale signs are all around: it’s 90-degrees outside, the elusive soft-shell crab has started to reappear on menus across the city, and any bedroom DJ worth his salt has put together a cookout-friendly tape for the summer. Here’s mine. It’s heavy on Bill Summers, who inspired this mix with his great run of summer-themed album covers through the late-70s.
