On last year’s Next Life compilation, Sirr Tmo’s “Live In Chicago Subway” was sandwiched between tracks from Chicago legends Traxman and RP Boo. “Live in Chicago” sounded like Kraftwerk by way of the Windy City. Sirr Tmo’s new EP TEK X TAR: Vol. 7, forthcoming on L.A. label TAR, is three tracks of ankle-blurring footwork.
In a strange bit of synergy, lead single “Falling In Love” is based on a sample of Los Angeles-bred, feather-soft 1970’s rockers Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds. Sirr Tmo’s footwork interpretation of “Falling In Love” adds momentum to the original, his skittering drums and pitched up strings creating waves where Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds were happy to coast. The Chicago-Los Angeles collision TEK X TAR: Vol. 7 is out July 4th.
