Torii MacAdams puts his two arms up, touchdown
I’m not convinced rappers are cognizant of the fact that stacks of money do not double as cell phones. In the video for Maxo Kream and Le$’ “End Zone,” Kream appears unaware that the phrase “money talks” is a figure of speech, and that speaking into a bundle of currency is highly inefficient. Kream is more discerning about the finest things in life–drugs and rims– than telecommunications, the Houston rapper menacing a liquor store parking lot as he raps “‘84s in the West get your life took/’84’s poke a nigga like Facebook/Karo in the drink that’s a no-no/Get a pint, Imma Karo fo’ sho’, tho’.” For the uninitiate: Kream’s preferred rims are the spoked variety, which came standard on 1984 Cadillacs, and Karo is corn syrup, which scruple-free drug dealers will use to stretch cough syrup. Remember the magic words, y’all, “No seal, no deal.”
Kream’s partner on “End Zone,” Le$, is…le$$ spectacular. Le$ is the perfect 7/10 rapper, an inoffensive placeholder who never fucks up the vibe, and says passably clever things like “You a hater while I’m high, eatin’ alligator.” Kream, too, is an unpretentious rapper, an unabashed, mean-mugger largely concerned with drugs, drug trafficking, and the attendant material goods, violence and bitch fucking. It’s to Kream’s credit that stale subjects sound fresh from the Kream Clicc ringleader. Kream’s next mixtape, Maxo I87, has been forthcoming from the better part of 2014, but if you’ve got any complaints you’re welcome to call or text him on his pile of hundred dollar bills.
