The greatest rap video show in the history of Beverly Hills returns for its fourth episode — first released on April 16th, 1993. The guest hosts are the Pharcyde beaming live from Delicious Vinyl’s label offices on Sunset Blvd. Fatlip is absent because Fatlip. The word “papes” is used repeatedly in regards to “The Hills.” The Pharcyde convince you that their tape is worth 9 bucks. They kick acapella beatbox freestyles. They make LA Riots jokes. Good times are had.
The first three videos are Freestyle Fellowship’s “Bullies on the Block,” Redman’s “Tonight’s da Night,” and Tribe’s “Jazz.” Naturally, the only way to follow that opening salvo was with some Illegal’s Kriss Kross diss “Head or Gut.” I did a short profile on the show for my LA Weekly column, should you be interested in more background history.
Earlier episodes of the series are below the jump.
