No “1 DJ and 1 MC” nostalgia here – strictly up to the minute vibrations. While I’m a big fan of the adlibs, multiple flows and harmonizing that go on in contemporary Hip-Hop, there’s a tangible energy that you only get through live rapping and hour two of this podcast has that in spades. Mumdance has become an absolute must-listen DJ thanks to his combination of up to the minute Techno and contemporary Grime and Novelist is still in the honeymoon phase of rapping where turning up to spit isn’t a job – it’s a pleasure. Everything from his bars to his Twitter shout outs bristle with energy and I’ll put him up against any rapper anywhere based on flow. If you’re into Grime, you already know, but fans of old Stretch & Bob freestyle sessions or the days when State Prop turned up on Funkmaster Flex’s show – this is how we do in 2014.
