The harder the rapper that Kendrick Lamar is paired against, the more vicious he is. It’s not like he’s remotely soft. This is the man who told the world that he has a collage in his garage of everyone he’s despised since the moment he turned five. But the show and prove element that he flexed on “Control,” becomes more clear in these situations. There is “Cartoons and Cereal” with Don Logan, “Jealous” with Fredo Santana, and now “Two Presidents” with Y.G. Hootie, where Kendrick boasts about his bonafides by juxtaposing slain civil rights icons and a cabinet full of Kool-Aid. It is delicious.
Y.G. Hootie is from Compton, but is not to be confused with the other Young Gangsta who works with Mustard. Like Joe Moses, Y.G. Hootie is in the West Coast Brick Squad Monopoly — a.k.a. how else do you think Flocka got permission to shoot the “Hard in Da Paint” video in the jungles. You need people. Both Y.G. and K Dot. went to Compton Centennial, who I used to play basketball against in the days before Aaron Afflalo. They usually won. YG Hootie’s upcoming project “Destroy & Rebuild” is set to drop on February 4, 2014.
