In the days before CD-R technology, retail albums were unalterable works of art, ironclad in their vision or lack thereof. For better or worse, tracklistings now serve as little more than reference points for neurotic fans masquerading as seasoned A&Rs. Migos, Atlanta’s latest brand of hip-hop antichrist, orchestrated an audible scavenger hunt with just these nerdy folks in mind.

The trio—or tentative duo, until Offset makes his way home from prison—released three mixtapes in almost as many months: Young Rich Niggas featured at least six legit street singles; Streets On Lock hosted a slew of particularly savage album cuts; and their newest offering, Streets On Lock 2, was unfortunately a depot for any residual filler from the aforementioned projects. After shaving their 2013 output down to a baker’s dozen, the year’s most satisfying gym companion rears its silk-laden head.

Don your Versace fedora and bask in the assonance.
