Son Raw doesn’t need no stinkin’ late pass.

The first rule of reblogging/curating/whatever is to disregard anything over a day old, but I’ll make an exception for this mix the Young Echo collective made for Fact Magazine a few weeks ago. To misquote ODB: I’m not saying you missed it, but if you missed it, I missed it. Ostensibly promoting their fascinating new album Nexus, the mix stands alone in highlighting the crew’s esoteric influences, from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop to drone to post-rock and dance music’s darker reaches. There’s long stretches of spooky noise, a Jamaican voice rambling on over a drum break, stretches of music you can almost dance to and a couple of rap records at the end. If my calculations are correct, the two furthest musical poles this site covers are my shit and Douglas Martin music. This almost connects them by way of Techno and awkward slam poetry. Go figure.
