Baton Rouge’s Luca Brasi creeps in silently on a Friday night to drop one of the year’s heavily anticipated mixtapes. Between this and Indigoism, it’s like Holiday Gift Man has been stealthily dropping presents down the chimney (wrapped in a Live Mixtapes banner). I’ve been jamming it for the last hour and off a cursory listen, it might be the best full project that he’s ever released. Guest spots from Spitta and Master P. Plus a song called “IHOP (True Story), which is a hilarious title on the surface if you don’t know how many people have been killed next to the IHOP on College Drive. Baton Rouge is like that.
I’ve had a Gates interview in the chamber since last May, when I interviewed him in conjunction with a Lil Boosie follow-up story that I was reporting. The story never dropped because the Angola officials wouldn’t let me get in contact with Mr. Wipe Me Down. That was partially remedied with my Boosie story that dropped in Spin on Monday. Look for the interview to drop sometime next week. In the meantime, turn off that Drake drivel and listen to this tape or you’ll wake up with a horse’s head in your bed.
