There’s nothing fancy about this Southern Gatorz tape that leaked to little attention last month, save for a shout out from the omniscient Steady Bloggin. Good old fashioned country rap slabs and adamantine trap jams. At a time when trap is the hot new EDM buzzword, this tape is a reminder that there are plenty of gifted rappers currently doing yeoman’s work in conceiving new metaphors for cocaine. Song titles on this tape include: “Rubberband Poppin’ (Lil Ray), “In the Kitchen” (Dropman), and “In Love with a White Girl,” (Gucci Mane ft. Young Scooter).” There is also a song called “Murder and Mardi Gras” from Lil Nardy, that might be the best title I’ve heard all month (year?).
There’s also cuts from familiar names like Spaceghost Purrp, Rittz, and Jackie Chain, alongside some of the very slept on Huntsville rappers from 0′ Third Ent. Credit due to DJ Dave Luxe and Grigrisland for curating a compilation with very little fat. This is like red meat and milk. No frills and hard enough to clog your arteries, but white enough to make you ponder a career in the street pharmaceutical arts. Stream below the jump, alongside a download link and a free chicken.
