DJ Quik will be remembered for being one of the funkiest men in music history. Less memorialized will be his capacity for comic evil. His rhymes are pure gangsta corrosion. And if you know anything about Quik’s backgroud: the jail stint for pistol whipping his sister, the Blood ties, the Death Row beatdown years, these are not empty threats. Never underestimate the capacity of a left-hander for revenge. “Demon’s Carol” is less Dan Brown, more Dante’s Inferno surrounded by Damu’s.
