We got it all wrong. The vocal resemblance meant that Bronson always got branded with the Ghostface comparison. But lately, he reminds me a lot more of Big Pun. The sex and food obsessions that veer towards Costanza with pastrami levels. The overweight lover aesthetic. The ability to turn every bar into an instant quotable. Of course, if he hadn’t become his own absurd character, none of this would matter. He is the Animal of rappers.
“Midget Cough” offers a humid psychedelic organ and Bronson steers the whip with one arm like Jim Abbot. Shooting eagles on the Jack Nicklaus course. Seats soft like a midget’s cough. The only thing I knock him for is that he didn’t make a “whore” pun based on on Robert Horry’s name. But maybe that was just too easy.
