Son Raw didn’t know this was online.
As I mentioned earlier this week, I’ll have the honor of playing a special 3-hour set at Montreal’s Piknic Electronik – AKA the most fun you can have on a Sunday afternoon in this city, on July 29th. Without spoiling anything, expect a monster tour-de-force performance from yours truly complete with bears jumping through flaming hoops and a chorus line of holographic Left Eyes and Aaliyahs. Either that or a lot of well mixed Dubstep, Garage, Grime, Jungle and Juke with me bouncing up and down like a mad man. In either case, I expect the entertainment value to be high and that’s BEFORE headliners Jacques Green, Lunice and Machinedrum take the stage. Plus, come with an appropriately stocked picnic basket and they let you bring your own bottle of wine – what a deal!
A few months ago I boldly offered to record a mix promoting the event and then promptly forgot to send it to them. Thankfully, they’re organizational staff is top-notch and after some gentle-nudging I finally sent it over for posting. It’s a somber affair, far more restrained than what I’ve got in store for an summertime set but it makes for good headphone music and/or night-time listening if I do say so myself. Let’s call it the calm before the storm.
