Last September, I wrote about RL Grime, a New York producer affiliated with the Wediditcollective, who makes “post-Joker London future bass music that breathes with the pulmonary smoothness of a non-smoker, and the hypnotic transitions of a chronic drug user.” His “Grapes Alla Vodka” has been a staple at the Low End Theory ever since, an anthem in the vein of Girl Unit’s “Wut” or Joker’s “Tron.”
His new Grapes EP drops today in honor of the annual Smoker’s holiday, complete with remixes from a-alikes Shlohmo, Salva, and Groundislava. I hear bits of modern bass music, grime, classic rave, and late 90s Timbo, but mostly the truth. The DJs already know. If you play this at extreme enough volume, you will get goosebumps. Tunes below the jump.
