Blood diamonds are too cliche and Roc Marc’s gift is putting a fresh spin on the familiar. So enter “Emeralds,” more crowbars and cars as flying carpets rap. If I were to pitch a reality show to MTV Iggy, it would involve Roc Marciano, Action Bronson, and Rick Ross competing to make up the most absurd magical realist rhymes. Gabriel Garcia Marquez would be the judge. 8 people would watch and all ocho would ask why this show was on MTV Iggy. I would answer: because I wanted to type the words, “MTV Iggy.”
Roc Marci’s new album drops this summer and is apparently being executive produced by Q-Tip. Why am I the last to know? This will easily be the grimiest thing Tip has done since “Drink Away the Pain.” Light one up.
