The system is imperfect, but Danny Brown is proof that it can work. Granted, I remain skpetical that the Silverlakeberg Park axis would have adopted The Hybrid as one of their own had he not pulled a full Skrillex. However, I am happy that they have. Last week at SXSW, anecdotal evidence had Danny as one of the token picks amongst the crowds who haven’t been to a rap show since catching De La on the Grind Date show.
Two years ago, Brown was broke. Now he is getting the Narduwar treatment and Scion is cutting him checks to drop new songs in the name of selling fuel efficient box cars. The vehicles lack #style, but Danny is from Detroit and managed to pull off wearing a Jeremy Scott tiger hoodie. Anything is possible if you dream blunted enough.
