GLK hit Amsterdam a few weeks ago, and we ought to have more than just aural evidence of his imprint in the land of clogs and kush. Some enterprising television producer needs to see the future and tab Will Bensussen to be the Anthony Bourdain of esoteric international weed strains and blunted beats. In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with his mix for Red Light Radio.
After all, Willie is perhaps the finest ambassador of California existence we could hope for: prone to explosive pyrotechnic sets, demented dervish dance moves, and a jewfro that even I might envy. At Low End Theory, it always feels like the last week in August when GLK’s absent. Lower energy levels, everyone’s on vacation, and the Adderall prescription is unfilled. He’s been on a summer bender overseas of late, touching down in Amsterdam to lace Red Light Radio with an hour of Teddy Pendergrass, Mellowhype, Tobacco, El-P, Supreme Clientele, and new Gonjasufi (skip to the 16 minute mark). Intelligent witch burning music. Bong bong bong.
