When the Shaolin meets the Wu-Tang, the combination can be dangerous. Having spent enough time with both the Drinker of Aquariums and O-Dub, I can report that neither of them are any threat to society. In fact, they are two of the most affable gentlemen you will ever meet. But likability goes out the window when it comes to making a mixtape. What counts is great selections, smooth transitions, and the ability to repeat self-aggrandizing slogans every 20 seconds. Unfortunately, Oliver Wang is much too classy to do such a thing, but my hope remains that there is an alternate version of his gospel funk mixtape where he taunts listeners with the depth of his crates, while employing the phrase, “We the best.” Or at least, “we takin’ over.”
We’ll have to settle for this. There are far worse things. In fact, there are few better. Tracklist below the jump, speedboat nowhere to be found.
