It’s easy to make fun of The Roots because they’re the house band for Jimmy Fallon and they work with Joanna Newsom, and they probably bonded with the Monsters of Folk over their mutual love of Kombucha, but it’s important to keep in mind that they are capable of doing stuff like this at any given moment. Also, they made Illadelphalflife — which should count for something. This still doesn’t quite redeem the “Are We There Yet,” TV show, but it helps.
