Shlohmo recently re-tweeted the acquired wisdom that when in doubt, play 90s R&B. Considering he’s about 12-years old (or 20, if you’re on that whole “factual accuracy” trip), I suspect he would file his remixes of Khia’s “My Neck, My Back” and Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It” under the umbrella of classic R&B. Personally, if I were a DJ and twerking the top 40-canon, I would probably flip Silk’s “Freak Me” and something on Diary of a Mad Band — preferably, “Jodecidal Hotline,” which I once dialed and needless to say, I was not offered a Devante Swing Fan Pack (consisting of several Magnum condoms, a half-drank bottle of Alize, and a crumpled sheaf of car phone numbers). Selection disagreement aside, Henry Laufer turns a couple of classic party anthems into stoned and brooding bass music, and like Montell, people will think the music that he made was good.
