Blessed with gratuitous shout outs from Mr. Thanksgiving, XXL drops its Freshman Mixtape, which might be the best freshman mixtape yet — partially due to new two new tracks apiece from Isaiah Rashad and Kevin Gates. Lil Bibby has a pair on here too. Basically, everyone but Chance who was told by James Blake that SoundCloud was the only mode of delivery for the refined gentleman. That said, there are loosies galore for the price of free.
I was at the New York freshman show last week and realized that Gates is the trap Ghostface. I also realized that someone affiliated with Vic Mensa might have been wise to advise him that blondes do not always have more fun. Isaiah Rashad did not perform because he was smoking eucalyptus with four Aryan blondes and a koala in Australia. However, he did drop the video for “Modest,” which I am posting below the jump because it has 200 percent more Larry David references than most rap songs.
