The above photo is an actual photo I got of Dam-Funk opening up for Shuggie Otis last Wednesday. No filter, no fade, just auroral rosy-fingered funk captured the golden halo above its head. At the risk of hyperbole (and I like to live dangerously), his music looks like this picture, reminiscent of some halcyon past but futuristic — never beholden to the space time continuum. Dam-Funk for mayor over Goldie Wilson. Free Hover Craft conversions.

On a less political tip, the man behind modern funk just dropped a few previews from his sophomore Stones Throw LP, Invite the Light. In another display of generosity, he has also uploaded a new gang of unreleased jams, demos, and outtakes that will will shake you loose on a Monday morning like you’d spiked your coffee with Kahlua. There is even one with MC Eiht and Jonwayne. Your spacetrack is here. Take flight.

All funk below the jump.
