Last Friday, I was invited to Dublab to do a two hour guest set. Since I’m only 13 (but my mind is old), I devoted the mix to hip hop songs inclined towards All Hallows Eve. Predictably, there was a lot of mid-90s horror-core. No, there was no Necro or Cage. Nor did Odd Future make the cut.
Since I’m permanently behind on deadlines, I didn’t have time to turn this into a proper mix. Consider it more of one of those variety packs filled with mini-Three Musketeer’s, Milky Way’s, and Nestle Crunch that you can buy to give to Trick or Treaters — except that instead of candy it features Ganksta N-I-P and The Gravediggaz. Below the jump : a download link to the mix, plus the tracklisting in which the songs were originally played. Best enjoyed with 2 Cups of Blood.

I don’t see how that’s really a Halloween song. Now if you had said “Mind Playing Tricks on Me…”

Great mix…but if I was going to put one Gucci song on there, it’d be “Poltergeist”.
If nothing else, this made me aware of that Gravediggaz/Tricky collab I’d somehow slept on until now.

Yeah, I was looking for an Esham song but I don’t have much of his music. There an album you recommend most?
The Flatlinerz were played but somehow didn’t get included in this zip.

Boomin’ Words From Hell would be my suggestion. But it’s probably really difficult to listen to for the first time with 2012 ears….

Is there anybody reading this who didn’t already have “Mind Playing Tricks on Me?”
I didn’t include “Monster Mash” either.

Dr. Octagon would be a good fit on this list. Halfsharkalligatorhalfman or Wild and Crazy. Mr. Gerbik is not pleased.
ALSO: Happy (sort of) Halloween! (costume ideas, free mixtapes, Patton Oswalt, Black Lips, Deap Vally & more) « stream says:
