Excavated out of English attics comes this never-before released Portishead remix of Ride’s “Moonlight Medicine.” Organs droned by the late Jon Lord of Deep Purple, scratches, crooked guitars and trip hop are juxtaposed with the weeded reedy vocals of the British shoegaze band. This was recorded sometime in the early 90s prior to the band’s self-titled debut. You can hear the influence of Check Your Head closely in the distorted squall of guitars. This might be the best rip of “So Whatcha Want” that I’ve ever heard. Proving again that Portishead are the best hip hop group that England ever produced.
