Four Tet – Rinse FM Podcast

Yeah, you thought that Sach was the only one trolling Rinse FM for obscure instrumental grime and bass records, but you thought wrong. I too have been known to sift through the podcasts of the seminal London station in order to win friends and influence people (friends and influence may be limited to the dog and cat in my apartment at the moment — and even then, the influence is negligible.).

But if you’re like me, you’ll probably be enamored with the last DJ mix from the man whose bank statements read Kieran Hebden. One hour of esoteric techno, African, house, and dub that confound my Shazam. Plus, the instrumental for “Show Me What You Got” and “The Healer,” because British electronic producers are contractually mandated to play at least one Dilla and Madlib beat on every mix. You already know what I think about that obligation.

If anyone has the tracklist, the comment section is waiting.

Does the fact that he actually did Madvillain remixes for Stones Throw umbrella him from the dark cloud British electronic producer contract obligations?

I wasn’t complaining. Though it might behoove them to discover a third producer for their triumvirate. Paul White is one hit away.

[...] So: apparently Four Tet‘s Kieran Hebden jumped on the decks for Rinse FM last week, delivering a heady, eclectic two-hour mix for aural feasting. No tracklist for this one, but it’s a melangé of old and new, featuring cuts from Erykah Badu, Boards of Canada, and Floating Points, as well as heretofore-unreleased cuts from FaltyDL, Juk Juk, and yes, Mr. Hebden himself. Enjoy. (via Passion of the Weiss) [...]
