Sach O‘s alternate post title: Ramadanman vs. Oneman – FITE!
We interrupt your weekend and my endless march through the depths of academia to bring you this all-vinyl set from some of London’s finest. While I occasionally gripe about how gentrified and blog friendly London Bass music has become (irony noted), Hessle Audio have long ago proved that posh accents aside, they’re the real McCoy. As if to prove their credentials, they invited Oneman over for a 2 hour all-wax session leaning heavily on Grime and Dubstep’s formative years, unearthing some absolute gems that have escaped the ever-watchful reissue mill. Come for the long forgotten Peverelist remixes, stay for Pearson Sound’s soothing monotone and the occasional Korn shout out.

I’m nitpicking here, but to refer to Hessle Audio as “London Bass music”, is a bit wide of the mark.
It’s actually a Leeds thing originally. Ramadanman, Ben UFO and Pangaea all met at University there. At least, I think so.
And as a proud Bristol resident, I’ll gladly also point out that Peverelist is about as London as as The Worzels.
Basically, what I’m saying is that “Bass Music” (hate the term) is a UK thing rather than a London thing. The capital city is bound to have the most going on, but it’s far from the be all and end all.
I’m feeling you on the over-gentrification tip though, irony notwithstanding.

I only listen to a tiny bit of Rinse these days but I caught this set by pure accident. Wonderful stuff all the way through.
