I always warm up to Kanye West singles after a while but as of yet, this one leaves me pretty cold. Lex Lugor’s beat deviates slightly from his standard fare – same old southern hi-hats now with sampled orchestral stuff instead of synthesized orchestral stuff – and that’s probably the best thing this track has going for it. Meanwhile, Jay & Yeezy do their thing but it never amounts to much. Sure, it’s nice to see Jay break out the “Jigga What, Jigga Who” flow again but it’s hard to get excited about his paint-by-numbers approach. I’ll refrain from ripping into this one if only because it’s nice that they actually made a rap song without any pop concessions, but in this case winning by default isn’t quite the same thing as winning.

I dunno. Kind of ho-hum. I can’t help but think it would have sounded better if Ross replaced Yeezy

People are not liking this song, that much it seems, which is fine with me as the two big names on it do nothing to give people a reason to like it. Kanye West is not meant to rap over a Lex Luger beat, and that is fine, as he can join the long list of rappers who should just refrain from stepping up to that plate. Jay’s verse is well, “LOOOOOOVE I DON’t GET ENOUGH OF IT”.
I like the beat by Lex Luger, if only because I like seeing his style changed up for a certain rapper, which is why the Lex Luger Juicy J mixtape is worth a listen for Lex doing old Memphis Crunk, and not just giving Juicy J 20 differnt versions of B.M.F. The attempt to make the track sound epic may not sound great as a single, but MAY sound better in the context of the album. (which I doubt will be very good)
