The other day, Sach extemporaneously remarked that dubstep and UK funky are really just the British variant of urban music, and tracks like this make the connection clear. Out of the Lily Allen, Duffy, and Amy Winehouse hysteria that was 2007, it’s surprising that Adele is the one who seems the best bet for enduring stardom. Maybe it’s that her music never fit neatly into a narrative, she just has that Voice and seems primarily concerned with the best way to harness it. The success of the xx almost seemed like it might be a fluke, considering their age and the startling maturity of their debut  But it’s clear that Jamie is giving the Hyperdub and Hemlock crews a run for their quid as one of the best producers of the 21 and under set. Even RBX would probably agree that this is deep like the mind of Minolta.
