Seeing as though your eyes may have glazed over the 4,000 words contained within the previous post, brevity is essential. One of the highlights of the Off the Books show was Shlohmo’s remix of “Pretty Boy Swag,” which ensured that like Soulja Boy, everybody had to pay attention. It may be my favorite rap remix of the year. The track comes from Friends of Friends’s Pop Massacre, available for free at Bandcamp. I have yet to hear the compilation, but the idea of Mexicans with Guns remixing “La Bamba,” and Daedelus re-imagining Prince appeals to my strangest sensibilities. The only thing more I could have asked for was Joker remixing “The Joker.”
