With Everything in Between— the excellent new record from No Age (easily my favorite band formed within the past five years)– set to hit shelves in a scant three weeks (as well as damn-near every fan of the band losing their minds to the leak right now), certain writers have feebly trying to make the unfortunately-named “dream-punk” genre happen. So, being as though we here at Passion of the Weiss care deeply about your knowledge of music and all of the hot new genres taking place in indie-rock and beyond, I’ve come up with a short list of genre names that will keep you way ahead of the curve as far as your appreciation of the band and outlier genres are concerned. Who knows? You might find one of these within the pages of your favorite music magazine! Just kidding. Nobody reads music magazines anymore.

INSTEAD OF DREAM-PUNK, REFER TO NO AGE AS:

1. Power-Drill Punk
2. Sampler-Punk
3. Ambient Ambien-Punk
4. Butch-Vig-Nevermind-Drums-Rock
5. Post-Post-Post-Punk
6. Proto-Post-Post-Post-Punk
7. Noise-Punk-Pop-Drone-Punk
8. Punk
