I don’t normally fuck with Marc Ecko lifestyle publications prone to cheap page click ploys and treatises on the merits of “suede bucks.” However, Cipha Sounds list of the “Top 75 Tunnel Bangers” is essential reading, despite having the most pause-worthy title of any litany this side of Ted Haggard. A paean to the glory days that no one thought were glory days because they were still bitching that hip-hop was better in 94, or 88, or 84. Some things will never change. I know that everyone has posted this everywhere on the Internet, but no one has posted it with more useless trivia.
For instance, did you know that Vin Diesel used to be a bouncer at Tunnel. Or that it was portrayed as an “Ecstasy Club” in Kids. Or that at one point, certain rooms were decorated as S&M dungeons. I imagine this is how Ja Rule was discovered. Holla Holla.

Abe Beame really did me a favor by putting together that compilation. Gotta road-trip this weekend…

I thought this was a post about the Funk Flex mixtape. Major disappointment. That was my JAM in high school.

Adam: I reviewed it for the old site ages ago. And yes, that tape was the fucking jam.
