Sach continues to ride for the battle-rap porn that was the Slaughterhouse album. Personally, I found the enterprise half-baked. Joell, Crooked, Royce and Buddens are obviously gifted rappers, but they’re four solo artists who never understood how to come together as one. The lesson gleaned was that four hot 16′s doesn’t always make a good song (though it can get you arrested everywhere outside of West Virginia). Because Detroit is the best city for rap in the world that no one outside of the Okayplayer message board discusses, Royce has always been my favorite of the crew with abbatoir blues. His Bar Exam series has never disappointed and I doubt that this one will — considering there is a collabo with Elzhi and Black Milk, a Dos Equis theme, and a song called “I Hate Your Pants (Skinny Jeans).” Granted, the former song is called “Real Hip-Hop,” but I will practice selective memory.

Heh, with a year’s perspective I don’t ride THAT hard for it. Then again, that applies to pretty much all rap albums from last year save Cuban Linx 2 and The Slow Twilight.
I will say this: Sound Off, Not Tonight, The One, Onslaught 2 and Woodstock & Warriors are as dope as any other contemporary rap song out there.

“it’s over” is my early vote for verse of the year.
