Great write-up Aaron - you do justice to a stellar album.

Their early career stuff is more timeless, but some of their later catalogue is still worth checking out - Coming Up is loaded with good tunes, you just have to pretend Britpop never happened when you listen to it.

Fun fact: Ricky Gervais managed these guys for a year or so early in their career.

Still need to listen to "Dog Man Star", thanks for the reminder, fellas!
Any time the phrase "chill bro" can be applied to Brett Anderson, I'm happy.

quite right too. 'suede', 'dog man star' and the first half of the b-sides collection are all priceless, though the rest is muck.

i sat in front of brett anderson for three hours on a train the other day. i only realised this as i was getting off, which is lucky, as i would have embarrassed myself something rotten otherwise.

he seemed like a 'chill bro', at any rate.

Stumbled onto this while I was listening to their second album (Dog Man Star). They're a very underrated band on this side of the pond - their first two albums are classics.
