There were 4,564,211 rap songs released last year, only a fraction of which were good, only a fraction of which were heard by people who don’t spend their days trolling message boards arguing about who’s nicer, Chino XL or Chingo Bling (the answer is obviously the latter, as only one of those two rappers offers their own line of hot sauce.) Sadly, neither rapper made the list, though as a consolation prize Chingo was nominated for Hustler of the Year, presumably alongside Rick Ross, Nipsey Hussle, and Hustle Simmons. The point of this discursive 1:00 a.m. ramble is that last year there was a lot of good rap made, so much that it was tough to pick a top 50. Because people seemed to enjoy those tunes, here are the next 25 that narrowly missed the cut, compiled into one zip file. Some were left off for arbitrary reasons, some were heard too late, some were just forgotten about. We’ll all manage.
