Jay Electronica’s Electrochemicals
Not sure why I just now stumbled onto this fairly comprehensive compilation from the one rapper the Internet hasn’t conspired to crush (give it time). Maybe Jay Electronica really is that great. Or maybe it’s that he’s the only one savvy enough to concoct an air of mystery, aware that no one needs to know the frequency of his bowel movements, whether or not he’s partial to soy milk, and when his baby’s mother is about to deliver. Scratch the last one. For those of you wary of an emcee whose name sounds straight out of an Ibiza chill-out mix, Jay Elect is the one exception, the first rapper to sample Dostoyevsky, the first rapper to call himself “Jay Electyamulkah,” the first rapper to sip Manischewitz on wax. That last statement might not be true–I have yet to hear the new Paul Barman jaunt.

Cheers to this.
Exhibit C is tied for rhyme of the year with Ghostface on 10 Bricks. Jay Elec is fucking beast and might be rap’s last, best hope if he can release a damn album.

Props on that Gibbs’ piece over at LA Weekly. Good shit. So is Jay Elec, despite his corny moniker.

Ha. Fair enough. But to his credit, his Tweets are protected for everyone but his followers. I don’t have a Twitter account and while I don’t begrudge anyone for having one, I don’t feel like I’m missing much.
Try this other link Thomas:

Weiss-
You are missing everything. You haven’t lived until you have an argument at 4 a.m. on whether or not, somebody’ Best Of Decade list is authentic, enough. The comedy, Jeff. The comedy.
