JK: Definitely revisit Wild and Inside, it's easily one of the best albums to come out of this new wave of lo-fi.

Kevin: I suppose I should give Psychedelic Horseshit a try, because I've mostly strayed away from them because of the name and the distasteful rants against Wavves and No Age. Maybe the music will be good enough for me to look past the unappealing aspects of the band.

Nice work. I think the night I forced Mr. Weiss to go check out Eat Skull back in March was the night Rob decided to deride the entire SXSW experience and perform from the floor the entire set. This might just be the album of the year. It's lasted through the spring and summer -- but I was hooked at Sick to Death.

And please, before you pass judgment on Psychedelic Horseshit, listen to them first. They are hands-down one of the more creative and catchy bands on this circuit, not even in the same class as most of them. Of course, I'm a Columbus apologist, but Matt Horseshit has the grooves and brown acid burns to back up his words. Testify.

The first paragraph was pretty great, not to take anything away from the rest of the essay.

With Eat Skulls I listened to their stuff and it didn't grab me, but I'll be sure to revisit them, maybe I missed something.

Oh, and Thomas: You're very welcome. This lo-fi shit is a lot to wade through, but there are some real gems hidden among the murk. Eat Skull is definitely one of the good ones; in my opinion, the best.

Danny: I totally agree about Dum Dum Girls' Sub Pop album having the potential to be the shit. That Mayfair Set jawn is pretty good, and, although it's mixed WAY too low, Dum Dum Girls' Catholicked EP is outstanding (do yourself a favor and get the vinyl if you don't already have it).

Curt: It's nice that someone around these parts thinks I have good taste. Thank you.

Mark my words: that Dum Dum Girls record on Sub Pop will be awesome. Underneath all that fuzz, Dee Dee Dum Dum has serious songwriting chops. That first Mayfair Set EP is in my top 5 records of the year.

BTW, I'm surprised at how much I'm digging these Eat Skull songs. Whatever I heard from them before I hated.
