i’m going to try to see dead meadow on monday. great american music hall. i don’t know much about them but i’m only in town for 45 hrs or so so that’s the one. and howlin rain is playing too and that’s the guy from comets on fire’s new band.

MY CITY! Haha as Abe says, be careful strolling around in Messy Marv’s part of the Fillmore. Also for your own sake avoid the gulliest part of the city, Sunnydale (unless you wanna see the West Coast version of the low rises from the Wire.) The Sucka Free, as we prefer to call it, has never really made a dent in hip-hop nationally, but we do have our share of hometown heroes. In addition to those you mentioned, check for San Quinn, Equipto (the hardest Asian rapper ever), and Lakeside’s own Cellski. If you’re looking for some dope Bay Area rap while you’re up here, cop the Jacka’s latest album; it gets a lot of burn here and with good reason.
