I agree with Vincent re:Wale. Wale shouldn't be anywhere near this list, let alone beating backpack classics like Deltron, FanDam, and AesRock. Not to mention all the non-backpack rap that didn't even make the list (but I guess you addressed this in the Intro).

Kinda have the same gripe about Edan but if you had included the Primitive Plus joint instead of Beauty & The Beat, I might've agreed. So I guess that's kind of a small gripe in comparison.

Hey Flowers, thank you very much.
I actually once wrote something on "Poisenville" here if that has any interest.

Thanks, Jeff, for that "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" summary. It's one of the more perfect things I've ever read about that album. You provided the "Poisenville" link, but what we really needed was a written tribute that dragon song. Anyhow. Thanks.

I'm happy to see MM Food get recognized. Kinda underrated, though the fast forward button, or rather the skip button, definitely is a must on that album. I mean, the skits are a little unfairly hated on, but you can't tell me you actually sit and listen to the block in the middle everytime. Or 'Guinesses.' As for The Documentary... it would make an alright instrumental album. I would pay for a Jada mixtape over those beats. I don't know, I think people believe over really great beats almost any rapper can make a good album, a la Group Home, but it actually takes the right kind of bad rapper to pull a Livin Proof off.

Some damn powerful albums on this chunk. Nice call on that Edan joint, one of the most original- yet it still harks to the old skool- joints to ever come along. CHeers.

"Yeah, that new Discovery album would be absolutely worthless if it didn’t provide a death blow to Sasha Frere-Jones’ well-intentioned but completely dubious complaint about how indie rock can only benefit from adopting African-American styles of music."

I've never been a huge fan of The Game, even though one of my best friends really likes his stuff. But "Put You On The Game" stays on my iPod because that beat is undeniable.

I'm enjoying the list so far.
