One last M.J. post–no more eulogizing in this space–just a simple re-direct to Pop and Hiss, where last week I ranked Jackson’s five greatest hip-hop samples (in no particular order). For a more comprehensive list and more MP3′s, head to T.R.O.Y.

Always been impressed by the young MJ’s ability to do very adult material convincingly, but even he’s hard-pressed to do justice (if anyone could) to lines like “young politicians fight for poverty/while people still cry for equality.” Oh well, at least it gives you an historical sense of the sort of schlock people must’ve been feted with on 70s Earth Days.
