And you're being dismissive.

You know who wins: Bears.

This is the best PR they've received since Berenstein.

I like 3 minute singles and I like longer composed intricate songs. Both are good. Grizzly Bear aren't a 3 minute pop single band and I'm glad they aren't. Your loss Disco, because they are one of the better bands making music these days---you'll come around.Took me a solid year to "get it"

I'm going to half back Disco up on this one. Not that I'd go so far as to say it's boring but whether or not the listener is willing to invest the time and effort to wrap his head around the record is a personal choice and complaining about that is akin to Emerson Lake and Palmer fans castigating philistines for not appreciating the subtlety of prog. Grizzly Bear stretch out and whether that's a virtue or not depends on the listener. Personally I'm a 3-minute single guy whether we're talking The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, The Roses or NMH, I'll play Darkside of the Moon or Hot Buttered Soul all the way through but those records GRAB you. Vektramist has some clingy moments but I'm yet to be grabbed. Although I'm willing to continue giving it a weekly listen.

Coming from a punk background (rock wise) it's sort of amazing how the indie world has inverted itself over the past few years though. This record would not have found the same audience a decade ago.

I have not seen them live and haven't particularly planned to. Perhaps it might change my opinion but I doubt it; whether or not this music can be performed live out of its context isn't really the issue. My issue is the quality of the songs removed from their ornate constructions.
