Black Moth Super Rainbow’s Kaleidoscopic Surgery
Unfortunately, I can’t embed the video for Black Moth Super Rainbow’s “Dark Bubbles,” a clip that Kanye has declared better than both fishsticks and reading. Like Eating Us, it’s worth checking it out, preferably in an altered state. I wrote a fairly extensive feature on the band for LA Weekly. A full transcription of my conversation with Tobacco will run sometime next week. It involves his love of Biz Markie, Scott Weiland, and why you shouldn’t offer to smoke him out when Black Moth comes to your town. In the meantime: go Lakers.

I am so angry I got turned onto BMSR three weeks AFTER they played my town at the EMPAC. I bought their album just now and I’ll write to them, see if they would come back around here.
By the way - hope you get more inchest in the paper. I’d like to see you with more room to spread out and fill.

Thanks guys.
The hippie label’s actually one of the things that frustrates the band. I suppose you ask for it when you include “rainbow” in your name, but they’re about as far away from hippies as you can get. If anything, they’re more hip-hop in their approach and philosophy.
@ Tree–I’m in the midst of working on a long-form story for the paper that has a lot of potential, so it’s on the horizon.
